Now I truly understand the Groundhog Day theory. Each and every Monday, while watching Monday Night Football, I’m also drafting the same weekly update to the Pick 10 Football Pool. And each and every Monday I seem to be writing the same thing. Upsets! Frustration! Rinse! Repeat! Rollover again!
To prove I wasn’t imagining things, I fired up the old Wayback Machine and looked at the first seven weeks of every season since 2020.

The only season remotely similar to 2026 was 2022, when the first payout didn’t occur until Week 4. We’ve now doubled that drought. Meanwhile, last season players were apparently collecting winning checks like Halloween candy.
Now, on to this week’s updates. The Pick 10 was rolled over before the late afternoon games kicked off. San Francisco, undefeated SF lost and so did 206 Poolers. Somehow the NY Jets was able to garner 212 Picks. Yes, they were playing Miami. Yes, they were at home. But . . . they are the NY Jets. I don’t think for the previous 6 weeks a total of 212 Poolers picked them to win. Carolina’s 175 picks lost long before halftime. Finally we get to Houston. Going into their game against the Giants, Houston had a total of 2 wins. The Giants had 3 wins. For whatever reason Houston mustered up 281 picks. YES!!! 281 picks for a team that only won 2 games.
There really isn’t anyone that came close to winning this week. The best anyone could do was 8-2. And 9 Poolers accomplished that.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, two brave souls nearly challenged Mr. Speedo’s legendary 0-10 performance.
Congratulations to: Aps4man and SOCKMAN. Both finished a highly impressive 1-9.
The Winner Pool naturally was also a disaster. 44 of 89 Poolers were eliminated. Of the remaining 45, only GauxGaux, HMC, Lil Wambo and LowKeyLew are without a loss.
The Pick 1 Loser Pool was even more pathetic. 60 were eliminated leaving 55 competing. Of the 55, General, GoGoBuffalo, HMC, Jessica JJ, Noe Competition, Princess Brittany, Radar, Trader Joe and Vegas Rats have zero losses.
The Accumulative Pool has Lil Wambo and Covey tied for 1st place with 50 wins. Wargie and C. Hawk 80 are in 3rd place with 50 wins. Followed closely by Rick N, Little E, Dalton and PTC Spartan, 1 win out of 3rd place.
That’s about it for Week 7. Study hard. Double-check your picks. Try not to pick the Jets. And for the love of all things football…let’s crown some winners. 🏈😄
