WE HAVE WINNERS!!
Week 1 of the 2026 Season will be worth $$$ to a single winner
It’s over! Hard to believe we’ve already reached the end of another Pick 10 Football Pool season. But as they say, all good things must come to an end. I hope you all enjoyed the ride this year — win or lose. I’m no spring chicken, and it takes a fair bit of effort to run this thing, but I enjoy the hell out of it and can’t imagine doing anything else during football season.
I’m writing this during the Baltimore–Pittsburgh game, so I’m going to mix things up a bit. With the exception of the actual Pick 10 Football Pool, everything else has already been decided. So let’s start there.
Pick 1 Winner Pool
We began Week 18 with 21 players, 19 of whom already had a loss. Only Junior D and Mwex10 survived the first 17 weeks unscathed — and Week 18 didn’t change a thing. Both still had Jacksonville available and wisely used the Jags.
Once they made that move, the rest of the field was irrelevant. As I’ve said many times: if we reach the end of the season, those with zero losses beat those with one. I do feel bad for the 19 who made it all the way to Week 18 with nothing to show for it, but rules are rules. And hey — in most pools, one loss and you’re gone. With my two‑loss system, I just prolong the agony.
CONGRATULATIONS to Junior D and Mwex10!
They split the $3,220 pot, taking home $1,610 each.
Pick 1 Loser Pool
Similar… but not quite.
Only six Poolers entered Week 18 still alive, and only Princess Brittany was sitting at a perfect 17–0. One Pooler picked Green Bay to lose — and they did — giving Dukeearl a final record of 17–1.
Princess Brittany and the other four players with one loss all selected the Chargers, which eliminated HMC, Huck Noe, MyFye13, and tkk before the game even kicked off.
With the Packers losing early, Dukeearl had to wait for the Denver–Chargers result. A Chargers win would have tied him with Princess Brittany. But the Chargers lost.
CONGRATULATIONS to Princess Brittany!
Her perfect season earns her $3,220.
Accumulative Pool
We started the week with Hail Yeah in 1st place, one win ahead of Baarty Party, who was one win ahead of Debar.
Going into the Chosen One game:
• Hail Yeah won 5 games this week
• Baarty Party won 6
• Debar won 7
My math skills may be limited, but even I can see that adds up to a three‑way tie for 1st place.
All three picked Baltimore in the Chosen One game, so tonight’s result doesn’t affect them at all.
And what about the players one game behind? Conman999, Kazamatic, and scodog all had a shot — if they picked Pittsburgh. But they all picked Baltimore too. So the Accumulative Pool was locked in before kickoff.
CONGRATULATIONS to Hail Yeah, Baarty Party, and Debar!
They split the $4,480 purse, earning $1,493 each.
Side note: In 30+ years of running this Pool, this is the first time we’ve ever had a three‑way tie for 1st.
Pick 10 Football Pool – Week 18
CONGRATULATIONS to Dr Noe, Fugazi, Macker, Sleeveland, and Spygate on your Week 18 win! With the rollover, the pot reached $3,060, giving each of you $612.
And what a finish. The Chosen One game decided everything. A Baltimore win would have given Fugazi a perfect 10–0 week and the outright victory. But Pittsburgh scored a late touchdown, and the missed field goal at the end opened the door for the rest of the group. 9–1 turned out to be the magic number.
That’s a wrap!
Thank you all for another fantastic season. I truly appreciate your participation, your enthusiasm, and your sense of humor throughout the year. I hope to see every one of you back next season.
Stay tuned — the Super Bowl Squares email goes out tomorrow.
