Week 10 Recap: Déjà Vu and Dollar Signs
With our third consecutive rollover, Mondays are starting to feel like Groundhog Day. Same story, different week. But hey—that’s the beauty of this Pool: watching the purse grow and imagining what $6,120.00 could do for one lucky Pooler. No one’s actually said it would change their life, but let’s be honest—we’re all dreaming of being the lone survivor.
The early Sunday games have been the Pool’s biggest nemesis lately. In Week 10, Buffalo took down 293 of 307 picks by losing to Miami (who had just 3 brave backers). Bayside Tigers, Titus, and 3 and 4 were clearly playing the upset angle.
Then came New Orleans. Just 11 Poolers picked the Saints, but they stunned Carolina (211 picks) despite having only one win in the first nine weeks. And yes—3 and 4 and Bayside Tigers were on that train too.
Even with the upsets, GoBigRed33, RuckusRider, SailorMiles, TOGOM and Vineyard Mavericks finished the week at 9-1. Quite an effort!!
AND . . .just a little oddity, both the Thursday Night and Monday Night games final score was 10-7.
Maybe it’s time we give college games a little more love. I’ve been tracking the college vs. pro pick mix lately. With 307 Poolers making 3,070 picks each week, college games made up just 14% of selections in Weeks 8–10. I get it—most wouldn’t touch a college game unless it was Ohio State vs. UMass. (Fun fact: UMass is the only FBS team still winless this season.)
Nordammar, however, went all-in on the college slate—9 picks total. He would’ve picked 10, but I made him take The Chosen One. He nailed his first 7, then Texas State and San Jose State happened. Oof.
Pick 1 Pools Update:
• Winner Pool: Started Week 10 with 139 players. After 31 eliminations, we’re down to 108.
• Loser Pool: Began with 84. Fifteen dropped, leaving 69 for Week 11.
Accumulative Pool Drama:
• With a Philadelphia win: FUBAR leads with 75 wins, followed by Bluto2me and Hail Yeah at 74. Ten others sit at 73.
This Pool is tight. With eight weeks to go, it’s anyone’s game.
