Week 15 Recap

WE HAVE WINNERS!! Week 16 will be worth $1,590.00 to a single winner   Oh, how I long for the good ‘ol days! Weeks when we had rollovers. Several weeks with rollovers. And when we had winners it was 2 or 3 or 10. But, that was then, and this is now. Winners virtually every week. And lots and lots of winners.    Week 6 we had 80 winners of $39.00 each. Week 13 paid out $43.00 to 110 winners. Then Week 14 was more manageable with 17 winners. But they only claimed $93.00 with their wins. And this week . .  it’s still up in the air. Right now, Danny Dimes and Dukeearl are sitting at 10-0. Winners, just waiting the outcome of tonight’s 2 games.   Should a miracle occur, and both the Bears and Raiders win, the payout to the 2 will be a hefty $795.00 each. But who really thinks that’s going to happen. Certainly not this season. Should Minnesota win, 20 additional Poolers will be winners. The money paid out to the 22 will be reduced to $72.00 each. In the 2nd game, we know that Atlanta will defeat a pitiful Vegas team. 23 others will be added to the winners circle. 45 winners!! OY VEY!!! The payout will be a mere pittance of $35.00.   I suppose that on a positive note, of the 45 potential winners, 9 will be collecting their 3rd payday and 13 others their 2nd. So their winnings are starting to accumulate a bit.   A complete list of the winners can be found at pick10footballpool.com/downloads. Click on Weekly Picks 2024 and then go to the tab at the bottom of the workbook labeled Accumulative Pool or Winners.   CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL!!   Of course, this post it a bit premature as both of tonight’s games are ongoing. Looking at the other side of the coin, should the Bears pull off an upset, that will eliminate 42 of the 43 Poolers still looking for the winning week. A Viking win and a Falcon loss will eliminate 23 of the remaining 43.    During the 1st 5 weeks of the season, we had major upset after another major upset. These losses eliminated the vast majority of the Poolers. Then, it appears as though all of the great teams started playing the bottom rung of the NFL. And the top teams always seem to find a way to win. There’s never been a season like this in the Pick 10, and hopefully there won’t be another one.   The Pick 1 Winner Pool,  all 12 are moving on to Week 16.   In the Pick 1 Loser Pool, all 18 are moving on to Week 16.   Starting with Week 16 thru Week 18, I will not be posting any of the Picks for those Poolers still alive in the Pick 1 Winner and Loser Pools until all of their picks are received. Peaking is not permitted at the end of the season.   The Accumulative Pool had a little change. Big ‘Ol Ditka is now alone in 1st place with 118 wins. Tied for 2nd, with 117 wins, are Junior D, Killer B, Tommy G and Roso903. If the season ended today, the 4 would split 2nd and 3rd place money. And, close, but no cigar yet, are DeBar and MamaBear_4739 and 116 wins.   Starting with Week 16 thru Week 18, I will not be posting any of the above’s picks until they are all received. The Alias’ may change from week to week depending on the list of leaders. Peaking is not permitted at the end of the season.   That’s it for Week 15. Let’s hope, for my sanity, that we have a nice quiet Week 16.

Week 14 Recap

WE HAVE WINNERS!   Week 15 will be worth $1,590.00 to a single winner   Once again we have a group of winners. Not anywhere near the 110 we had last week, but still a substantial number. So far, going into the MNF game Duval County, Goose_23, Hog For Life, Tight 27, Gamblin Girl, Jordan JJ, Rusty Trombones, TBONZ & Tommy G are 10-0 and are guaranteed to split the $1,590.00 pot. However, there are 8 more Poolers that need a Cincinnati victory to claim a piece of the prize.   The difference in payouts are $176.00 each for 9 winners, vs $93.00 for 17. Not a lot, but more than double last week’s $43.00 payout. Or, going back to Week 6, the $39.00 windfall.   Congratulations to all that won!!   Week 14 started out like we were going to have 200 winners. There were some major picks on the college side. Something that’s rare in this Pool. And of course, only a couple of upsets.   It wasn’t until the pro’s started playing when we have some negative movement. Tennessee took out 131 with their loss to Jacksonville. Then we had the one major upset of Buffalo by the Rams. 187 Poolers lost with that game.   In the Pick 1 Winner Pool, 12 of the remaining 14 passed through to Week 15. GT is still without a loss. If the season ended today, based on the tie breaker rule, GT would be the only winner.   The Pick 1 Loser Pool had 6 of the 24 eliminated. Again, if the season ended today, Biondo/Desch, tkk, Brustacles and covey would split the Pool, as they have zero losses.   If Cincinnati should defeat Dallas tonight, we will have a 4 way tie for 1st place. Junior D, Killer B, Tommy G and Big ‘Ol Ditka will each have 108 wins. The 4 would then split 1st, 2nd and 3rd place money.   One game behind them is Roso903 with 107 wins. And Chris9080, DeBar, MamaBear_4739 and paulie have 106 wins.    If Dallas should pull out a victory, Junior D and Tommy G will occupy 1st place with 108 wins. They would split 1st and 2nd place money. In 3rd place, are Big ‘Ol Ditka and Killer B with 107 wins. Roso903 is next with 106 wins.   As a few of you know, I post everyone’s picks each week in the Pick 10 and the 2 Pick 1 Pools. As has been the custom the last several seasons, in order to keep the Accumulative Pool leaders and those still live in the Pick 1 Pools, I will not post your picks until all those involved have submitted their picks.   In the Accumulative Pool, I will determine who’s picks I will hold back based on games behind. This may change every week. I will highlight your alias in RED so you know who you are. Once I receive your picks I’ll change the highlight to GREEN. Once all the RED’s are GREEN, I’ll post your picks.   In the Pick 1’s, I’ll just highlight you in GREEN when I receive your picks.    Week 15 contains only 23 games. With the Division 1A season ending, I have to go to the Division 1AA and Division II/III playoffs. Hopefully, once the Bowl games start in Week 16 I’ll be able to get to 25 games again. However, I’m not going to put high point spread college games in the Pool. So if I can’t find 9 worthy college games, we will just have to deal with less.    That’s it for Week 14.

Week 13 Recap

WE HAVE WINNERS!! Week 14 is worth $1,590.00 to a single winner   When I write we have winners, I mean we have winners. Lot’s of ’em! The total number is dependent on who wins the Browns-Broncos game tonight. Currently, there are 27 Poolers with 10 wins. If Cleveland should pull off the upset, that number will be 28. The payout for the 28 is $170.00. However, should Denver be victorious, the number grows to an almost unmanageable 110. OY VEY!! In the event that occurs, the payout will be a measly $43.00. Not even enough to purchase a Super Bowl square. But a winner is a winner. That’s more than I can own up to.   CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE WINNERS!!   Whatever the outcome, I am certainly not going to list all of the winners here. If you are not one of them, and you are curious, just go to pic10footballpool.com/downloads. Click on Weekly Picks 2024, and find the tab at the bottom labeled Accumulative Pool. Then scroll down the Week 13 totals and enjoy.   Every week in the Pools seems to be it’s own story. Week 12, a rollover week, several of the high picked games lost. This week, they all seemed to win. (Tonight’s game may be the exception) There were many opportunities for upsets this week, starting with the Bears mismanaging the clock and losing to Detroit. That game would have taken out 214 Poolers in the first game of the week.    Then the Raiders had a good chance to take down Kansas City, but the Vegas center decided to snap the ball to the QB’s chest when he wasn’t looking. 272 had KC. Arizona and New England and the Jets all blew late game leads. And then there is Carolina that could have upset Tampa Bay in OT, and didn’t. If any one of those teams would have won I may have been screaming ROLLOVER again.   In the Pick 1 Winner Pool, 13 of the 14 still competing all won, with only SgtZ waiting to see if his Denver pick comes through.   In the Pick 1 Loser Pool, the 28 became 25 with 3 Poolers going down with a Pittsburgh win over Cincinnati.    If Denver wins tonight, Junior D will be alone in 1st place in the Accumulative Pool with 101 wins. Killer B will drop to 2nd with 100 wins, while Big “Ol Ditka and Roso903 share 3rd place with 99 wins. MamaBear_4739 and Tommy G and one win out of the money.   If Cleveland should win, the leaders mentioned above are still the leaders, with just 1 less win each. Obviously they all had the Broncos.   This past week, was the final week of the regular college football season. Week 14 there will be 12 collage games in the Pool. 8 of them are Division 1A Conference Championship games and 4 Division 1AA games.   Week 15 thru 18, the college side will be made up with competitive bowl games, Division 1AA & Division II/III playoff games.   The NFL byes end this week, Week 14. So, at most, I have to fill the college side with only 9 games. There may be some of those 4 weeks that won’t have a full complement of college games. We’ll just play it by each week and see what we have available that is Pool worthy.   That’s it for Week 13. Study hard!!

Week 12 Recap

Turkey with Football

ROLLOVER!! Week 13 will be worth $4,770.00 to a single winner   Week 12 was doomed from the git go! Cleveland defeating Pittsburgh on Thursday night took out 112 Poolers before the weekend even started. And that wasn’t the worst of it.   Saturday started off slowly as there were some very scarce picks for the first 5 of 12 games. A total of 82 picks combined for the 10 teams. Then disaster struck with Colorado and their 82 pickers going down to Kansas. That was followed by 194 Poolers losing with Alabama. Then, to make matters worse, Texas A&M was defeated by Auburn and another RED mark going against their 95 pickers.   It was such a disaster that only Mr Big Pants survived and entered Sunday with a 2-0 record. 84 other Poolers joined him, but they haven’t even made a pick yet. Those 84 had to pick winners for 10 of the remaining NFL games scheduled. A super human task, to say the least.   Thanks to Washington (296 picks) and Houston (281 picks) losing in the early Sunday games, that put the end to their illusion of grandeur before the late Sunday afternoon games commenced.    At the time of this writing the Monday Night Game is not yet final. However, if the Ravens win, BmansaysTitanup and Sleeveland will have completed the week with and impressive 9-1 record. Should the Chargers win, Sleeveland will be the only Pooler with a 9-1 performance. Whatever the outcome of this game, my question is . . . How in the hell did you accomplish that? The average number of wins per Pooler is just short of 6.    The Pick 1 Winner Pool is creeping closer to declaring a winner. 11 of the remaining 25 starting the week were eliminated. By my basic math skills, leaves on 14 competing in Week 13. Only GT is without a loss.   The Pick 1 Loser Pool wasn’t nearly as bad. 4 of the 32 participating have rotated out of this Pool. Of the 28 left, Biondo/Desch, BucDoc 14, covey, tkk and Brustacles have zero losses.   In the Accumulative Pool, Junior D is now in 1st place by himself with 91 wins. Killer B drops to 2nd with 90 wins. And there is a 3 way tie for 3rd. Roso903, Big ‘Ol Ditka and Tommy G all with 89 wins. Behind the money leaders is a mass of humanity that trails by only 1 or 2 wins and a whole lot more 3 wins within the top spots. With a third of the season yet to be played. So keep plugging away.   That’s it for Week 12. This, being Thanksgiving Week, there are a lot of games in the Pool being played before the weekend. The NFL has 3 Thursday games and a gimme on Friday night. On Friday we also have 4 games. So get that brain matter working early this week and get those picks in.   I want to wish all the Poolers a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving.

Week 11 Recap

ROLLOVER!! Week 12 will be worth $3,180.00 to a single winner   Week 11 wasn’t all that difficult to pick until it was. The college games were, for the most part, some of the larger overall point spread games of the Pick 10 season. On the NFL side of the Pool, 7 teams had in excess of 200 picks. I envisioned another week of at least 80 winners.   And, early on, the Pool was going in that direction. There was a little blip in an early evening upset of Oregon State by Air Force. That eliminated 65 Poolers. Not bad, but going into the very late starting Kansas vs BYU, 5 Poolers selected Kansas, while 124 picked BYU. That game didn’t end until the wee hours of Sunday morning. And when we arose, found out that BYU was defeated.   We went into Sunday with 134 Poolers without a loss. 7 of those were 2-0, 23 were 1-0 and 104 were 0-0. There was still a long way to go to 10 wins.    Everything was going along pretty well with the early NFL games. That is until Baltimore, with 113 picks, lost to the Steelers. That reduced the number of potential winners to 3 at 7-0, 10 at 6-0 and 6 at 5-0 going into the Sunday late games. However, once San Francisco lost to Seattle, we were down to only Royal72 with an opportunity to win the week and $1,590.00 all to himself. Royal72 was 8-0 at the time of the 49’er loss. That didn’t last long as he was eliminated shortly after with his Kansas City pick. WHEW! A long winded route to get to the ROLLOVER!!   While we didn’t have any winners this week, 8 Poolers did finish the week by going 9-1. Along with Royal72, was C2COOL, Football Queen, KisaMamma, Oban, Steamrollers, Stoners and T-Bone.    And then there was Sites and his 2-8 finish. OY VEY!! In the Pick 1 Winner Pool, of the 31 Poolers that started the week, Dr Evil was the only one that was eliminated with his Baltimore pick.   The Pick 1 Loser Pool experienced a total of 9 Poolers being eliminated. All with a Seattle pick. That reduces the number still participating to 33. Of that number, 5 are still without a loss.    In the Accumulative Pool, we are back to a tie for 1st place with Junior D and Killer B at 84 wins. But now, tied for 3rd place with 82 wins, 2 wins out of 1st are Big ‘Ol Ditka, Chris9080, MrChicagoTWP, Roso903, Tommy G and Tungey. Still 7 weeks left, so if you are remotely close to the leaders, never give up hope.   We enter Week 12 with a difficult week. There are only 13 NFL games. Obviously, that means there are 12 college teams. Many of you are going to have to make a decision. I’m particularly talking about those of you that wait until Sunday to make your picks. If you do that this week, you will have to pick 10 winners out of only 12 games. Sports betting makes a fortune off of people trying to pick 6 winners out of 16 games. If you have that much confidence that you can wait until Sunday and pick 10 teams correctly, you need to put a buck on those 10 teams with an online betting site. If you aren’t that confident, you may want to think about making your picks on Thursday of Saturday.   That’s it for Week 11. Study hard!!

Week 10 Recap

WINNERS!! Week 11 will be worth $1,590.00 to a single winner   For the second consecutive week we have some winners. This time, only 3! BH Reach, Clubberland and Nick Papagiorgio were able to navigate around the NFL upsets of the Giants, Bears and Falcons. For their effort, they split a pot of $1,590.00. Each received a payout of $530.00. Congratulations to all of you!!   Their win wasn’t without some tension though. Last night’s Detroit vs Houston was a nail-biter. All 3 had selected Houston and if not for a near miss field goal in the closing seconds, they may have lost in all in overtime.   One note of interest, all 3 winners picked 3 college games and 7 pro games.    Each week there are 25 games included in the Pool. Every week there are 25 winning teams. The Pool shouldn’t be that difficult. But most of us latch on to the heavy favorites, especially on the NFL side. All it takes are those one or two upsets. and over 200 Poolers are eliminated. Knowing how to avoid those upsets requires no skill at all. It’s just pure luck. At least thats how I see it. Of course the 110 Poolers that have cashed in so far this season, most likely don’t share that opinion.   The Pick 1 Winner Pool keeps losing players. Week 10 saw 5 of the 31 Poolers remaining lose their 2nd game and have been eliminated. GT is the only Pooler without a loss. Royal72 took his 1st loss by picking the lifeless Rams on MNF.   The Pick 1 Loser Pool has had a lot more luck as only one Pooler was eliminated this week. That leaves 41 still competing.   The Accumulative Pool saw a little separation at the top of the standings. Killer B is now alone in 1st place with 77 wins. Falling into 2nd place, and 1 win behind are Junior D and Tommy G with 76 wins. Tied for 4th place with 75 wins are Roso30 and tungey.    After 10 weeks this Pool is as close as it’s ever been. There are still almost 90 Poolers with between 70 and 74 wins. So, a couple of good weeks can change the makeup of the Accumulative Pool.   That’s it for Week 10. Week 11 appears to be pretty easy.

Week 9 Recap

WE HAVE WINNERS!!   Week 10 will be worth $1,590.00 to a single winner   Here we go again! Another week with lots of winners. Fortunately we had a rollover the previous week, and the number of winners was a quarter of the amount of the 80 in Week 7.   After the Minnesota victory on Sunday night, Bmac, BucDok 14 and The Trash Man would have shared $3,180.00 pot, or $1,060.00 each.   However, there’s this other game called Monday Night Football. 17 Pooler were 9-0 going into that game. And, of course, all picked Kansas City. I mean, who would pick a Tampa Bay team that were without their 3 top wide receivers. Actually 6 did! But they weren’t in the running for the 10 wins.   The additional 17 are; GoGoBuffalo, Gump, 24 Carrot Gold, Addi’s Army, Car, Cashcows, Cstan7, Dons Dawgs, Hail Noe, jimbawls, Mane Man, Pain in the Analyst, Silo BobandSusan, sixerkid, The Real Danny Dimes, Tua Girls One Cup & URATM.   CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!!   Week 9 appeared to me to not be very difficult. There was very little play on the college side of the Pool. Of the 3,190 total picks, only 489 of those were college teams. That’s only about 15% of the picks. But, of course nordammar accounted for 10 of those picks. All college! And all he had was a 6 win week to show for it.   The biggest upsets for the week were Illinois on the college games with 44 picks. The biggest NFL upset was New Orleans losing to Carolina. 209 Poolers lost with that game. And that game cost the Saints head coach his job. That’s what happens when you mess with the Pick 10.   In the Pick 1 Winner Pool, 15 of the remaining 46 Poolers dropped out! By my math, only 31 remain. And of that 31, only Royal72 and GT are without a loss.   On the Loser side all 42 that started Week 9 have progressed to Week 10.    In the Accumulative Pool, Junior D, Killer B and Tommy G are still in 1st place with 69 wins.   In 4th place, all by himself, is tungy with 68 wins. He’s followed by Big ‘Ol Ditka and Roso903  with 67 wins.   We have officially ended the 1st half of the Pick 10 Football Pool season. How time flies!! There’s still lots of money to be won in the 2nd half, so keep plugging away.

Week 8 Recap

ROLLOVER! Week 9 will be worth $3,180.00 to a single winner   Such an easy week, yet it produced zero winners. Not that it wasn’t close. 29 Poolers finished the week going 9-1. However, only one Pooler should feel screwed.   As the early Sunday games were going final, Pooler after Pooler was being eliminated. 296 selected Baltimore over Cleveland. Who would have thought Cleveland was going to win that game, let alone any other game yet to be played this season. 189 Poolers lost with the Jets going down to New England. Who would have thought the Patriots was going to win that game, let alone any other game yet to be played this season.   Those two games were enough to eliminate everyone that still had a chance to win. Everyone with the exception of Tua Girls One Cup. Tua was sitting pretty at 3-0, the only one with zero losses, savoring the comeback victory by the Chicago Bears. Except, that wasn’t to be. While some of the Bears that were still on the field during the final seconds, were prematurely celebrating, The Washington Commanders Quarterback tossed a Hail Mary pass just short of the end zone. But. the football was tipped into the air, backwards, into a lonely Commanders player was standing in the end zone. And so it ended! A loss for the Bears and elimination for Tua Girls One Cup.    This week, I snuck in a college game with a point spread much higher than I normally select for the Pool. I wanted to see how many Poolers would not take a game with a 21.5 point spread. Of the 319 Poolers, only 195 selected Miami over Florida State. I literally gave everyone one win. It was a no brainer. Yes 124 Poolers didn’t pick Miami.    Now I sort of understand those of you that would never touch a college game. But to not even take a peak, I cannot grasp. Then there were a few that actually picked college games, but not that one. WTH!!! WHY??? I realize that this was a big rivalry game, but Florida State sucks.  It’s quite possible I may put in another lopsided game in the Pool from time to time. You may want to look before you pick.   Killer B is still in 1st place in the Accumulative Pool with 60 wins. However, this week he is joined by Junior D and Tommy G. If the season were to end this week, the 3 would split, 1st, 2nd and third place money.   In 4th place are Roso903 and Tungy. Both are 1 win behind with 59 wins. And 1 win behind, tied for 6th place is Big ‘Ol Ditka and Dinwiddie.   3 Poolers were eliminated from the Pick 1 Winner Pool. Trader Joe, MJ and PatRiot losing brings the number still participating to 46.   The Pick 1 Loser Pool lost All in the Family, Chicoug, Crazyeyes, IIYaKa3, MamaBear_4739 and AzHawks. The total Poolers still picks now stands at 42.   That’s it for Week 8. Study hard for Week 9 as we already have reached the halfway point of the Pool.

Week 7 Recap

WE HAVE WINNERS!! Week 8 will be worth $1,590.00 to a single winner   Great News! We have a manageable number of winners this week. So far, Agent Zero, Big Ballers, Dirt Muffins, Dirty Blonde, Frosty Balls, Princess Brittany and Tight 27 completed their week with the Baltimore win tonight.   However, the week is not yet complete as the LA Chargers – Arizona game is still ongoing. Should the Chargers win we will add Addi’s Army, TBONZ, Timbo71 and Trader Joe to the list.  An Arizona win or loss has no effect on the Pool’s outcome.   So, the total number of winners will be either 7 or 11. How lucky is that??? The payout for 7 winners will be $227.00. And for 11 winners, $144.00. Not a bad payday compared to last week’s measly $39.00.   Whoever or whatever the final number is, CONGRATULATIONS!!   Week 7 wasn’t terribly difficult. On the college side, Texas cost 118 Poolers a win and 74 picked loser Alabama. Atlanta, on the NFL side, had 157 lose on that selection, and 78 Jet’s pickers got hosed.     In the Pick 1 Winner Pool, 50 Pooler started the week and so far 49 are advancing. tkk selected the Chargers tonight. That game is still ongoing, but not looking good for tkk. A loss for him means elimination.   The Pick 1 Loser Pool lost 3 of the 51 Poolers remaining. It appears that the remaining players in both pools have settled in as we are experiencing very few losses the past couple of weeks.   In the Accumulative Pool, Killer B maintains a 1 game lead with 52 wins over Junior D, Roso93, Tommy G and tungy. If the season were to end today, that group would split 2nd and 3rd place money. But right behind them, with 50 wins are, Big Ol’ Ditka, bohms33, Chris9080, Dirt Muffins and Olive2me.   That’s it for this week. Study hard and get ready for a Week 8 win.

Week 6 Recap

WINNERS!!! LOTS OF WINNERS Week 7 is worth $1,590.00 to a single winner   WOW!!! That one word describes exactly how I feel about the outcome and results of this week’s Pick 10 Football Pool.   The results for Week 6 is very difficult to report. Everyone that participates in the Pool dreams of that big payout. And based on how the first 5 weeks played out there was no real reason to think differently about Week 6. EXCEPT . . . there were ZERO upsets in the NFL this week.    Unless the Jets upset the Bills tonight. I have an early flight in the morning with a gawdawful early wake up. So, I’m wring this before tonight’s game is over.   Anyway . . . should Buffalo win tonight we will have 80 winners. After a Week 1 payout of $530 and a Week 4 payout of $4,770, Week 6 winners will claim only $39. If the NY Jets should happen to win the number of winners will be reduced to 46, with an increase in the winnings to a hefty $69.   I realize that this is not a whole lot of money but, the season is only one third over. If you can win once, you can certainly win again and increase your winnings for the year.    Congratulations to the 80 or 46 Winners, whichever turns out to be the final total.    And, of course, since there were no Sunday upsets, the Pick 1 Winner and Loser Pools had a total of only 1 combined elimination. All 50 Pooler Picks in the Winner Pool won. In the Loser Pool, Mongoose #2 was the only one eliminated out of the 52 remaining.   In the Accumulative Pool, Killer B maintains his spot at the top with 45 wins for the season. He has increased his lead by 2 wins over Roso903 and Tommy G. They each have 43 wins. Auntie Vic, Chris9080, Huskiemax, Junior D, Olive2me and Tungey have 42 wins and 1 win out of the money. That’s it for Week 6. Have a great week and let’s get this Pool back to normal.
