ROLLOVER!!
Week 7 will be worth $11,480.00 to a single winner
Week 6 Recap
The Arizona Cardinals.
Yes, those Arizona Cardinals.
The 1-4 Arizona Cardinals somehow managed to do what no team had been able to accomplish all season: prevent someone from winning the largest pot in Pick 10 Football Pool history.
Facing the 2-3 LA Rams, Arizona received exactly what you’d expect from a 1-4 team… zero legitimate Pooler Picks. Meanwhile, the Rams collected a whopping 313 picks. That’s an awful lot of confidence being placed in a team that had managed only two victories through five weeks.
Unfortunately for PTC TandG, he was one of those 313 believers.
Heading into the late afternoon games, PTC TandG sat at a perfect 6-0. Under normal circumstances, his remaining selections would have had the engraver warming up the trophy. But this wasn’t a normal week. This was Week 6, where common sense apparently took the day off.
The Cardinals’ upset wasn’t the only surprise.
College football hasn’t been pulling its weight in the upset department this year, so game-changing results have been scarce. The closest thing we saw was Maryland’s 77 picks losing to Rutgers’ lonely single pick.
The NFL, however, decided to make up for lost time.
- Jacksonville collected 100 Pooler Picks in London and lost.
- Baltimore’s 143 picks were sent packing by 12-pick Cleveland.
- Indianapolis, backed by 268 picks, fell to 2-pick Tennessee.
Apparently underdogs got together before kickoff and decided enough was enough.
Despite the Cardinals’ betrayal, PTC TandG still finished with a spectacular 9-1 record. Following his lead, 26 Poolers posted a very respectable 8-2. On the other end of the standings, 18 Poolers managed four wins or fewer and are probably already studying next week’s lines.
Accumulative Pool
At the top of the mountain sits Lil Wambo with 45 wins, averaging 7.5 victories per week. Given the chaos we’ve witnessed this season, that’s nothing short of remarkable.
Lurking just one game behind and tied for second place are C. Hawk 80 and covey with 44 wins.
Just outside the money positions, but within striking distance at 43 wins, are:
- Kiss My Alias
- Milton Bradley
- Bedaman
- wargie
One good week could change everything.
Pick 1 Winner Pool
Calling Week 6 a disaster might actually be understating it.
Thanks to the Rams and Colts deciding not to cooperate, 60 Poolers were eliminated this week. That leaves 99 Poolers still standing, with only 13 remaining perfect and loss-free.
Pick 1 Loser Pool
Compared to the Winner Pool carnage, the Loser Pool was relatively quiet.
Only 29 Poolers slipped below the Eliminate line, leaving 116 contestants alive and moving on to Week 7.
Final Thoughts
Another week is in the books.
Another week with zero payouts.
Honestly, I was convinced Week 6 would finally produce some winners. Instead, Arizona, Tennessee, Cleveland, and a few other troublemakers had different plans.
So let’s dust ourselves off, put our football brains into overdrive, and see if we can finally get some money flowing.
Because at this rate, the pot is getting so big it may soon need its own zip code.
